On June 16th, 2024, The Queen, A Victorian Bed & Breakfast, a beloved local landmark, was delighted to announce its 50th anniversary of her restoration adventure.
The Queen Anne style building was not always the graceful beauty she is today. A hollow shell of her former self, The Queen was reduced to a dilapidated, barely habitable skeleton before owners Nancy Noll and her former husband rescued her. They envisioned pouring five years of dedicated sweat equity into transforming the property, ultimately trading it for a sprawling 50-acre plot in the countryside where they could embrace a hippie lifestyle. Unfortunately, that husband left right on cue, but Nancy and her son remained. With the help of a new husband, Curtis Miller, The Queen was painstakingly restored to her original splendor and elegance.
The Queen’s destiny as a bed and breakfast was realized 21 years later, when a chance encounter with overflow guests from a neighboring establishment changed Nancy’s vision for the property. Nancy’s passion for providing warm hospitality and cherished memories for her guests gave her a new purpose, and she embraced the role as innkeeper wholeheartedly.
Since opening its doors in 1995, The Queen has become renowned for its elegant Victorian charm, cozy accommodations, and delectable homemade breakfasts. Owner Nancy Noll’s commitment to providing exceptional service and personalized experiences has earned The Queen a loyal following of returning guests, and piqued the interest of many new visitors, for the past 29 years.
Nancy’s deep-rooted love for our planet and Mother Nature fuels her dedication to incorporate eco-conscious practices into The Queen’s daily operations. Sustainability has become a core thread in the fabric of our business. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and minimizing wasteful consumption. We love to share our green philosophy with our guests, and hope to inspire them to embrace a greener lifestyle in their own lives. Thanks to the efforts of Nancy and her staff, Casie Garber and Asia Pilger, The Queen is a proud UNESCO certified sustainability property with beautiful certified pollinator and Audubon gardens. We are also a recipient of the CCRA 2024 Emerald Award in the Centre County Green Business Partnership program for our environmental stewardship and resource-efficient practices.
In 1989, the Centre County Historical Society honored Nancy with an award for “Excellence in Historic Preservation. The Borough of Bellefonte presented Nancy with the “Historic Rehabilitation Award” for her restoration and preservation efforts with The Queen.
We are honored to be celebrating this milestone anniversary. Our success is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff, as well as the unwavering support from our wonderful community. We are deeply grateful to every guest who has graced us with their presence over the past 29 years. We cherish our roots and welcome what’s to come!
